Before we brought Mom home from Ottawa, Lorraine Legge came to visit us at home and carefully reviewed the care we felt mom would require: her assistance with daily living needs and the hours of support we felt mom would require.

On arrival home, Mom was exhausted and stressed from the five-hour drive and anxious about how she would be assisted to settle in. Fortunately our Angel was on hand to greet us, and with her able assistance, mom was quickly, calmly, and gently made comfortable and relaxed. Having someone of our Angel's calibre of expertise and professionalism at this crucial time immediately enabled us all to confidently adjust to the new "living" arrangement.

Three days a week our Angel came to stay with mom so I could go to work. Mom so looked forward to those days and I went away to work confident in the quality and professional level of care mom was receiving. Unfortunately mom's health began to fail and more Angel hours were required. Another Angel was found for us and she too provided wonderful care. Both Angels made it a point to get to know mom, to engage her in conversation, to cater to her personal needs with cheery disposition and friendliness, to let her know she was special to them. It made all the difference. These ladies were not simply caregivers for hire: these women well and truly cared for my mom, they showed compassion and went out of their way to alleviate her anxiety, frustration, and her pain. Each had special gifts for calming, soothing and comforting: just what mom, my husband and I needed to get each of us through.

You think you can handle all the nights and most of the days yourself but you learn quickly that 24/7 care takes a huge physical and emotional toll. There were a few times when I was completely overwhelmed. How unbelievable was it to discover that an urgent, last-minute call to Henry Legge could have an Angel on our doorstep in very short order, and to our great fortune, it was mom's favourite Angel. To me, this level of service is above and beyond the call. I would never presume, nor take undue advantage of the Angels' good nature in this regard, but I will always be grateful for the immediacy of their response when they were needed the most.

It is a crazy old world. Sometimes your faith in human nature is sorely tried. Senior HomeCare by Angels completely restored my faith. Thanks to our Angels my mom enjoyed a very fine quality of life and lived with great dignity until the very end of her life's journey.

You and your staff were especially helpful any time Mom needed extra assistance. Your employees were exceptionally good with, and to Mom, and she will miss their daily visits and care.
