SOCIAL MEDIA TIPS AND GOOGLE MY BUSINESS CHANGES

Every week I am asked “how to” questions when it comes to social media and the directories, so I thought I would answer those questions here and share some of my tips.
 

1. How do you tag a business or a person on Facebook, Instagram Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn? 

Related imageTo tag a business or a person on any of the social media platforms, you use the “@” symbol before the name. As soon as you put the @ symbol you will see a drop-down menu and as you type each character the selection will change.  Once you see the one you want, just select it.  It will appear in bold and usually blue depending on the platform. To tag my company it would be @taylormediapromotions.
 

2. What is a hashtag? Why should I use it?     

 Yes, I still get that question.
The best way for me to explain it is when you put the # symbol in front of a word, sentence, category or even a business name.  There are no spaces whenImage result for hashtag you create one.  For example, #love #socialmedia or #taylormediapromotions #gettinglocalbusinessesfound.

Hashtags are used as a search option. If you were to do a search on Facebook, for example, every post that has that hashtag in it would be listed. Starting with the ones from people or businesses that you know or like. Try it for yourself!

Google My Business - Changes you should know about!

Only if you know how to use it successfully.  



Every single one of us is a consumer!  Look at your own habits, when you want or need something, where do you go? It is safe for me to say, that 87% of you just said "Google!", I go there myself!  It is has built the trust in us, as consumers, to be the "go-to" place when we want or need something, or we are just plain curious.   Having your business listed with Google is the number one recommendation I make to business owners who come to see me.  Making sure you show up on the Google Map is the first way to get your local business noticed.  It's also one of the first things the Google "spiders" will look for - which makes sense since it is their own platform!

With all the changes and updates Google has made,
especially with the new mobile features, business owners can try and figure it out for themselves (which can be very confusing and time-consuming) that is why most business owners give up because quite frankly, you have many other things to worry about that need your attention now!

Most business owners prefer to talk to someone, in person, who is trained in the industry to offer a workshop to walk them through each new change step by step. While using their own laptop or computer. So they can learn it hands-on! Doing that kind of training is very successful and most of us are tactile learners anyways.
