Curb Appeal for Selling in Summer

Done right, the summer season could provide a great opportunity to get your home on the market; the days are longer, the weather is warmer, gardens are in full leaf, and buyers oftentimes take more time off work, and other activities, to spend in the market looking for a new home.  If you are selling your home during the summer, heeding some simple tips for selling your home will likely increase your chance of closing a deal.

Outdoor Landscaping -  If you are selling your home during the summer season, it is critical to keep up with the yard maintenance.  Things like trimming bushes, cutting grass and maintaining your trees will reap dividends. All of your greenery will grow faster during the summer so plan some extra time each week to keep your grass cut to a proper length, your bushes properly trimmed, and trees cut back so that your home is showcased as it should be.

Roofing & Gutters -  Keeping leaves off your roof and out of your gutters is another important step toward providing maximum curb appeal for your home. As an extra step, it is recommended to have a professional inspect your shingles to ensure none of them are loose, missing, or excessively worn.

Flowers -  Introducing vibrant flowering plants to your gardens will undoubtedly provide you with big returns on your curb appeal investment. Planting seasonal flowers may require a little extra work as they often need to be replaced once they bloom, but rest assured that this extra work will pay off in the end. For an easier approach, buying potted plants will lighting up the front entrance of your home.

Lighting -  No one thinks that a half-lit house is sexy! Make sure that you replace any burnt out light bulbs and set your outdoor lighting on a timer to ensure that your home is perfectly lit for prospective buyers. For additional pazazz, consider installing landscape lighting.  There are now a number of solar powered options out there that will add some extra flair without breaking the bank.

Driveways & Sidewalks -  Keeping your driveway and sidewalks clear of leaves, weeds and overgrown grass will help to create a more welcoming environment for potential Buyers. Renting a power washer to ensure that they are clean and free from oil stains or signs of age and wear might also be something you might like to consider.  Remember, this is the first thing a Buyer sees and it will set the stage for the rest of their visit.
