Winter Tip for Senior Drivers: Know your limitations. Be aware of your limitations & avoid any situations that make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. For instance, if your hands hurt when turning the wheel, try using a wheel cover that is softer & can be easily gripped. By knowing your limitations, you can be proactive about reducing your risk factors to ensure your safety &the safety of others.

Glaucoma on the Rise: It can be detected in its early stages thru a comprehensive dilated eye exam. Drops are placed in your eyes to dilate/widen, the pupils to examine the optic nerve for signs of glaucoma & other vision problems. An eye pressure test alone is not enough to detect glaucoma. It’s very important that people don’t wait until they notice a problem with their vision to have an exam.

Caregivers New Year's Resolution : I will……Learn to take one hour out of each day just for myself to read, enjoy a hot bath, journal my thoughts or call a friend. Attend at least one caregiver support group to realize that I am not alone & that I can learn from others. See my doctor for a physical exam & give my own health needs more priority. . . .what will you do?

There is still a stigma attached to this ailment, but the only way to combat this misconception is to learn more about it, bring it out into the open & discuss it. Urinary incontinence can occur at any age for any number of reasons. Women are 50% more likely to be affected than men.
